Bosque del Apache’s “Flight of Enchantment” workshop
December 6-11, 2024 - First Come First Served
Join us in the Land of Enchantment at one of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth. People from around the world visit Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico to witness the breathtaking spectacle of tens of thousands of geese and sandhill cranes taking flight against the New Mexico sky.
Why Attend?
Whether you are drawn by the spectacle of tens of thousands of sandhill cranes, Ross' geese, snow geese, and other avian species, or simply wish to experience the unique sunrises and sunsets of New Mexico, this workshop offers something special. The Bosque del Apache NWR truly embodies New Mexico’s motto, "The Land of Enchantment," making it a one-of-a-kind destination.
Workshop Details:
Bosque Birdman will lead a small group of photographers on a journey through the refuge, including three to four days of photography. The workshop is scheduled before the Festival of the Cranes to avoid the crowds. However, you may extend your stay to participate in the festival if you wish. The festival includes various activities and seminars, which will be held at the Socorro Conventions Center this year. More details can be found here: https://friendsofbosquedelapache.org/festival/
We plan to have seven shooting sessions, weather permitting. The exact itinerary will be shared upon registration. We hope to create many fond memories and capture images that you’ll be proud to share with friends.
We will have an evening dinner and meet & greet on Friday, December 6. Please arrange your travel to arrive in Socorro before 5 PM on Friday so you can get checked into the hotel and freshen up for a meet & greet diner at 6:30 PM. I’m buying. Socorro offers several dining options, as well as a Walmart for groceries.
Each morning, we will meet at the hotel and depart as a group for the morning shoot. Your instructor will be available for image reviews and critiques upon request. Participants will also have the freedom to explore the photographic opportunities in Socorro independently while still benefiting from critiques
We will give you information on where to stay and where we will meet once we have your registration in hand.

Our workshop is different from most in the following ways…
1/ This is a very small group allowing for better photographic and learning opportunities.
2/ The leader is a local and long-time resident. Almost all the workshops at Bosque are led by photographers from out-of-state who don’t know the ins and outs of the area like we do.
3/Our groups are full of inspiration, kindness, happiness and joy. If you join us you will have not only portfolio-quality photo opportunities, but great fellowship.
Special Opportunity for individualized tours:
